#1 Yellow Pine – When strength is important!
• Everything we stock in yellow pine dimensional lumber is #1 grade.
• Sometimes the #1 grade will contain more wane (bark or the absence of fiber on the edges) than the appearance grade products carried by the big box stores, because their lumber is selected strictly on appearance. Their appearance grade is not graded for strength, knot size and straightness like our #1 grade.
• The strength of #1 grade can be 23% to 28% more than the #2 Yellow Pine stocked by others. And, it can be as high as 63% stronger if the mill includes Dense Select Structural and Select Structural in their #1 grade.
• If you are using 2x6’s for roof construction, heavy load situations, etc., you should use #1 Yellow Pine instead of Spruce.
• Since we sell low grade cut-to-size stock, we can cull out more marginal boards than our competitors. We use off-grade boards in our crating operation. This allows us to better satisfy your desire to get the best quality lumber for your projects.
