We purchase a #1 structural grade pine from mills that carry the highest quality #1 available in 2x4, 2x6, 2x8, 2x10 & 2x12 and 4x4, 6x6 & 8x8 Timbers.. … very few knots and less twisting & warping! Light weight, lays flat and easy to work with!
All of our treated lumber is water-repellent treated. All of our Wolmanized treated lumber is Kiln Dried After Treatment (KDAT) - except our 6x6s & 8x8s. Timbers are "seasoned dried". Our 4x4s are "surface dried" in the kiln to approx. 22-25%.
Our 2x4 & 2x6 are a proprietary grade our supplier Mid-State Wood Preservers refers to as "Exel". Their "Exel" grade is purchased from only two mills which have the highest grade of #1 structural pine. Then, Mid-State culls out lumber that doesn’t meet their "Exel" standard. Although it is stamped #1, it is a much better product that any #1 on the market. KDAT, so it can be painted, or stained.
